Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll189/LeeannS24/c65f54a3756ad8d950081b54110a0cec_zpsmecjepua.jpg This could suck. Bad. It seems to be biased towards the '99 - the one you can see. The '00 is on the other side. My husband says it's resting on the mirror, but the mirror doesn't seem to be broken. ...

Re: Passenger door locking issue.

So the button on the driver's door does nothing at all to any lock? And the fob locks/unlocks everything but the passenger door? First, you need to check the wires in the wire thingy between the body and the driver's door, then the same for the passenger door. If they check out good, time to check t...

Re: van won't reverse

Double-check the fluid level while parked on a LEVEL surface, fluid hot (van up to running temp) in park, after shifting though all the gears slowly. If it's low, it won't shift properly.

I would change the fluid and filter, personally.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

I use a little block of wood or a flat piece of metal and use a c-clamp. Long before the new pads are even close to the caliper. Just a thought for the future.

Re: A/C compressure

But which one? There are two things that plug in. If it's the one on the back, that's just the high pressure switch.

Re: A/C compressure

Nope.

The HVAC controls on the dash do go bad, but I'd have to trace back the wires.

Which connector are you testing, by the way?

Re: cranks, doesnt start(sometimes does)-stalls/choppy idle

Security light is problem #1. Usually caused by a poorly-cut key or an old, worn key.

Then figure out where all your oil is going/has gone and fix that.

Re: AC compressor repair without opening system

Correct. There's a schrader valve behind it, so nothing leaks when you R&R it.

Re: AC compressor repair without opening system

The metal can shouldn't need to be replaced.

Like Jack said, replace the pressure cycling switch on the accumulator. It went bad on my '93 Bravada and we had to jump the switch to get AC to get the 300 miles home...then replaced the switch.

Yup, the little piece of hose that ethanol eats.

Re: What have you done with your other vehicles today.

We forgot to get a pic before the cutting and welding...oops. Suffice it to say there was no fender lip left once I touched it with a wire brush. Handheld, even. So my husband chopped out the remaing bad crap, grabbed the front cover from the old grill, cut a piece to match the driver's side, bent i...

Re: Nearly an Astro owner

Welcome, Mick! With what others are going for, $3300 doesn't sound totally out of the ballpark. I think you cherry-picked the good stuff from the Blazer. There is something different about the fuel pump from Blazer to Astro - I think their tank is smaller, iirc 15-20 gals (depending on model) instea...

Re: Operation code name "Water Damage"

If you have any mechanical ability, it's not difficult. Time-consuming, but not difficult. I personally like Moog Problem Solver idler arms and tie rod ends, but there's nothing wrong with Detroit Axle that I've heard. Just make damn sure the CV axles are exactly the same length as the old ones. Mos...

Re: What have you done with your other vehicles today.

Didn't get it all done yet, but she's one happy 21-yr-old (there was squealing and happy dances involved). Got the upper & lower rad hoses replaced and coolant refilled and burped. Radiator looked pretty good and so did the coolant I drained. But this hose... IMG_2468.JPG That be the leak. All f...

Re: Sugar in COKE.

I'd rather drink Mexican Coke than any other version, because of the cane sugar.

I cannot drink/eat ANYTHING with artificial 'sugar' - every damn one of them gives me migraines. No Splenda, no aspartame, no nuttin'.
