Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

As a kid I had a trans go south and lost all forward gears, a '74 Pinto no relation to a 700R4.
Stiil had reverse, 5 miles home backwards.

Replace the dizzy. Look at the links in astrowill's signature for the Skip White dist. It is cheap and it works.

Re: Rear leaf hanger rubbing

Sooooo,Yeah..... Took a good look at my leaf springs yesterday, I just love my slight upward arch they have,LOL. Gotta address that issue asap. Now since my leafs are not that old, Is adding a leaf an acceptable alternative, and if so what should I use? I went to the boneyard and found a set of spr...

Re: Rear leaf hanger rubbing

Adding a spacer is fine. If you remove and straighten the existing clamshell, get it back to square angles, when you reinstall measure for the spacer or use stacked washers. The spacer needs to be a little short so when tightened you compress the snot out of the rubber pads.

Re: NEW GEARBOX -- STEERING PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!

Lol, it's funny but it sucks. I sometimes wish I could be happy with a new car that I could start up and go every time but it just isn't me. I got the wife a '13 Subi forester and we both love it for much different reasons. I like it because all I need to do is basic maintenance and I can turn my ba...

Re: 2002 chevy express 5.7L vortec, L31 swap help

Has it been 6 months? no, more like 5 so far. Middle of Jan. That's not bad figuring what your doing. Took me four and I think your work shows the extra time not to mention the added bodywork. After you get it back on the road I expect you'll be chasing gremlins for a little bit but that's why they ...

Re: Rear leaf hanger rubbing

Coaster wrote:clamshells are bending where they dont fit right due to wrong clamshell/spring combo. not good

Because of the inverted arch and the clamshell I would consider adding another leaf to the pack to help with the load and adding a little reinforcement to the clamshell with spacers and new bolts.
