My 2000 shuts down at exactly 100mph... my 92 has NO limit!

138 mph is the governed speed on gen 1 for whatever reason. I looked in the computer with the Tuner Pro.

My old 66 Chevelle had a odd coded engine and it ended up being a warranty block. Don't recall the codes (doesn't matter)

Love 66 chevelles had 7 of that particular model.

Re: Leaking oil from these lines

First engine blew a oil line sprayed the bottom of the van. Was still running when I shut it off but cranked hard. Bearing material on the crank. I rebuilt it and ported everything and used a cam. Then the head cracked and fried that one. Metal shavings from the head and rings all through the engine...

Re: A/C problem

It needs more in the system. Turn the can upside down and add till the compressor stays running. Once the system stabilizes it will cycle as your driving.

Put a ball valve on the hot water and turn it off when it is hot outside. Get a electric fan.

Re: Low Oil Pressure/Oil Pump Replacement

My new engine runs 75lbs at anything over 1500 rpms. 45 lbs hot idling. So if your going less than 20 miles it stays pegged @75lb idling or driving.

But the topic is a older engine that has wear making it live.

Re: Low Oil Pressure/Oil Pump Replacement

My original engine had 178 thousand when I did this. It was running right at the red idling when it was hot in the summer after driving over a hour. With heavy oil. After the spring it stayed above 20 lbs. Pegged when cold and ran bout 65 lbs while driving. It is loose tolerances in the engine somew...

Re: Low Oil Pressure/Oil Pump Replacement

My finger is in the part the pick up goes in. On this one the little screw is holding the spring in. Most have a pin that is driven out. It comes out in the part that is bolted together. So when it is together it wont fall out.

Re: Low Oil Pressure/Oil Pump Replacement

It is in the part that comes off with the oil pickup. 4 bolts on top. There is a pin you drive out. There is the spring and a plunger in there. Summit racing has the springs they are only a few bucks. Give me a minute i will go get a pic of a oil pump.

Re: Low Oil Pressure/Oil Pump Replacement

My first engine did that. If it is 8 lbs at idle it is in specs. You don't need a oil pump you need a pressure relief spring with a higher pressure. Get one of those and put it in and run thicker oil 15-40 it be fine.

Re: Bad Body Mount Bushings

* Are all 6 bolts threaded upward into the body, into some sort of nut welded in place? * What has to be done to get to the top sides? I'm guessing the front mounts are the only ones a little harder to get to though the front grill or bumper area? The nuts or threaded portions of the program. They ...

Re: Bad Body Mount Bushings

There is no squeaking they are a non moving part. They are not that hard to put in. PB Blast them now real good and get them soaking. I put the vans frame not the subframe on jack stands so the front tires were slightly in the air. Then used 2 floor jacks to move the sub frame. One on the side I am ...

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

I have had a little rattly sound in the back a while I was thinking was the rear brakes. I Laid under there a while the other day doing one of the vans regular inspections. Smacking around on things. The pipe hanger from the tail pipe to the rubber part. Had picked up a little piece or road debris. ...

Re: P0113 ODB Advice

That means there is a bad connection, open circuit. Or the computer is bad in that part of the circuit board.

Search for a broken wire or bad connection first.

Re: Spare engine (side project)

# on Marine cam or are they all the same? specs? Thanks! They are pretty tight lipped on the specs for those cams. But there a a few of them depending on year and what not. 208@50 on intake and exhaust up to 209@50 intake and 215 exhaust. 460's lift. on all of them. For the 4.3's. Comp cams has the...

Re: Spare engine (side project)

Well it is obviously a 96 and later block. Heads from any of them fit all of them. Heads you want to use are connected to which better and easier is already in the van. You need the casting number on the block to track down what it is. That is on the rear of the engine. Under the head. On the heads ...

Do you have any specific brand and diameter of glass-pack you really liked?

I got a Thrush cherry bomb style from summit racing. It was like 19 bucks. It is a 2 1/2 inch one.
