Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

Y'ALL WERE RIGHT.

it was the damn flex line. lesson learned; i'm never trusting a mechanic over the people here again.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

i'm going to change the flex line today. i already have the part and i might as well start with the most obvious/easy thing.

then i'm removing the oil cooler.

then i'm going to cry.

at least i have access to a shower. lol.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

another question, I know it's not a good idea if you're planning to tow stuff, but might it be a problem when. I'm going over mountain passes in the rockies? I really don't want to overheat the engine.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

i still can't find the thread I'm looking for though. there's like a how-to thread somewhere that I read that was super helpful, but I can't find it.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

just had someone look at the control arms and check for play. there was hardly any play, but he had it lifted and the torsion bars weren't unloaded. idk what to do anymore. the oil is definitely coating the bushings on the left lower control arm. I asked if they could do an oil cooler delete, and th...

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

But I am pretty sure you are going to need 2 PASSLES of Tools and patience to match the 1 passle you own already. Don't forget to check the sway bar connections - altho that should not affect driving much as you have described. lol ok. thanks. i might be ordering the parts for cheap and have someon...

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

is it difficult to replace the bushings on these? I just got a quote for $250 to replace all four lca bushings.

if it's easier to replace the entire arm, I might do that.

Re: van won't reverse

hehe, yeah I got a free trial pass to a gym around here. just took a long shower and there's still trans fluid in my hair.

the van shifts a lottttttt better now that I changed the fluid. It shifts like a dream from park to reverse. no problems yet. :fingers crossed:

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

ahhh okay. I bought a flex line and was planning to install it, but the brakes plus guy said there was nothing wrong with the brakes and I think the bushings are probably bad. I do hear a clunk every now and then when turning in certain conditions. it seems likely, idk. I think I'll check the bushin...

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

what's a flex line?

I just took it to brakes plus, and they inspected the brakes. they said it's not a braking issue, it's a suspension issue. they want to replace the lower control arms and ball joints. I think they said the bushings are bad on the control arms due to my oil cooler leak.

Re: New Brake Pads/Rotors

soooooo it's now veering to the left pretty extremely. like if I'm driving and hit the brakes, the steering wheel turns. definitely seems like a front brake issue, which would mean the right front brake isn't stopping as well as the left one. today I replaced the caliper on the right side. I thought...

Re: van won't reverse

that's a great tip, thanks!

I really just need a shower though. it looks like I was rolling around in trans oil. which is...kinda what happened.

Re: van won't reverse

the new filter already had the seal installed, so I took a punch and punched in the steel shell until it fell out. wasn't hard at all once I figured out how to do it. anyway, I got everything put together and it seems to run really well. here's hoping it keeps going strong. I definitely wish I would...

tried to get a picture of that hole. it looks like something is broken in there and I can't find the rubber seal.

Re: van won't reverse

okay, thanks! I'll go ahead without sealant.

the new filter has a rubber seal around the tube, whereas the old one doesn't. does this mean the old seal is stuck in the hole somewhere?

Re: van won't reverse

I used a crowbar. it was pretty stuck on there.

when I replace the gasket, should I use some sort of grease or silicone to hold it in place? I've heard different things and I'm planning to just put it on dry, but maybe that's wrong?

Re: van won't reverse

yeah, we don't need brakes either...who needs to stop? ;)

I have all the bolts except two off of the trans pan but it's not dropping wtf. I'm in a laps parking lot so I don't wanna make a mess. is there something else holding up the pan?
