Re: Phantom Body Kit

Postby rev_les » August 26th 2010, 6:43am

I'm a little late here, it's been a long day. Urethane body kits are pretty easy to install. If the side skirting uses the 3-m 2 sided tape to adhere it...be sure to clean the mounting surface with silicone, wax and grease remover, and prime it with 3-m adhesive promoter or Pro-Bond adhesive promoter. It helps to have a second set of hands to help hold everything up to align it, esp. if it's your first time.Basically, dry fit all the parts and make sure that it's going to line up, and where it's gonna line up, it helps sometimes to give yourself some penciled in reference marks. I used to work for a shop where we put on a ton of body kits, fiberglass, and urethane kits. Urethane kits are FAR easier to install (and usually better quality as well). Good luck with the rest of the install !!

Not sure why my computer is looping 5 tiems over, but thanks. I am still having problems with the installation of the side skirt. Not really sure exactly where the skirt is supposed to fit. If anyone has pics or something of that, it would really help. I was unable to find the post that had the description and pictures.

I know I must sound really novice...but I am, what about the side skirts, aligning it does not look correct, anyone have a close up picture of the sideskirts installed? I never found the forum referenced earlier. I'm ready to get this bad boy done so I can hopefully paint it this or next week.

Working on the rear bumper now, this will be the task for the night. A little confusing how this is going to set also, we will see.

Now I have to find a place for all of the extra pieces.

That would be really helpful, I have not even been able to find someone with this "exact" kit installed. They have some crazy airbrush design from far away. I was able to figure out everything except the side skirts. Here are some more pics. I just want o make sure it is right before I get it painted.
