Sabreuk, if you look at the last photo you posted and look at the throttle body just below there are two bolt. Looks like the bracket fits on those two bolts.

Hoist points are always on opposing sides of the engine, it wouldn't stay balanced in the hoist if they weren't.

thanks for that lump, your ac compressor is on the other side to mine and my trans dipstick is different aswell its bolted to the oil dipstick but i see where that braket goes at least.

my ac pump has 2 bars stabilising it one goes from dvr side manifold to ac pump, one goes from ac pump to side of intake plenum.ill see if i have a pic to show ya what i mean.

That sucks, but at least they picked the window you've been putting off repairing.

that is a bonus, im just glad i managed to get the parts sourced fairly quickly without having to order it from the u.s for a change and i can go pick the bits up. im also glad its only passenger window and not the big side windows.

looks like my neighbours car was possibly the inteded target for said boulder as he is going through a messy split up with his wife, so we kinda think it was ment for his car instead of my van. however it still happend to the astro so id still like find out who was responsible .

Well she runs at last yay, got just about everything done a few lil jobs left like putting new hood cable in etc an ac pipe to fix and a new pcv valve to get but it runs lovely. No signs of leaking no water in the oil sounds generaly lovely. As soon as ive got the lil jobs left done ill tax it and its road worthy again. Then its on to the exterior getting the wing changed and changing colour to black so phase 2 herewe come

Re: sabreuk project

Postby sabreuk [OP] » April 14th 2012, 4:48pm

well this weekend has been busy so far, as you know ive got the engine running however it defo needs a good flush as the new lifters are not charging and i have the ticking noise back i started with so thats a flush new filter and oil, and its got a lumpy idle at tickover......

the revs pulse realy low and cuts out eventualy but hit the gas and its fine ive tried everything unplugging all the sensors etc but i havent checked the fuel pressure yet.
apparantly there is 4 or 5 common faults on these vans that ive read up on from various threads on here with my symptoms.on the iac valve ive cleaned the sensor and the port it sits in when i had the engine apart, ive tried unplugging it when the van is running and no obvious difference is made, i unplugged the map sensor and it died pretty much straight away, the dizzy has new plugs, leads, rotor arm, and new cap all ac delco bits i havent changed the coil pack or the sensor on the dizzy which it plugs into spark advance i think it is. im uploading a video to youtube aswell and ill post it here once its done see what you guys think. so the 4 issues i dont mind are:

1. fuel pump (worn not giving enough pressure)
2. idle air control valve
3. map sensor
4. distributor + or coil pack.

if it turns out to be none of the above the part i dont want to be playing up is the cpi fuel injection spider in the plenum which is not cheap at all so ive got a few bits to get again which is stopping me getting the front interior back together. however took it for a short run around the block and it pulls like a freight train well for a van it does.

also found a few bits of rot creeping in around the windscreen door frame bits so there being treated as i type this and when it drys its getting the underseal treatment to make sure the windscreen doesnt rot itself out. so hopefully once this is sorted and the rough idle i will be actualy able to drive it properly :) yay

Just thinking out load here. Seems like a vac leak to me. Maybe and intake leak? Use some starter fluid and spray it around the vac lines/fitting and intake with the engine running and see if the RPM jumps up.

I would move the timing. It is a 95 it can be adjusted. I did a 95 blazer same engine. Loosen the distributor till you can move it by hand. With it running turn it clockwise see if it smooths out. The 95 cpi blazer was in approximately same position as mine when it left here. The knocking/lifter noise I would check the pushrods for looseness.

The timing is spot on chevy its set to where it runs the best. I know whats causing the lifter rattle one or 2 of them are blocked either from the gundge from the head gasket or its the cam lube thats blocked the oil channel hence needing to give it a good flush.
