Custom rear bench/bed picked up.

Custom rear bench/bed picked up.

Postby 94 Van Guy [OP] » December 12th 2010, 8:04pm

Today AstroWill and his Son, came by and picked up the rear seat in person. He drove from New Mexico to Utah.

Oh yea, for those that haven't been following, I had a rear seat/bed from a conversion van. The kind that are electric and with a flick of a switch or two, changes from a seat to a bed.

The color was a close match so it will be a good addition to his van.

Lynn and I enjoyed our visit and hope that the voyage to his next destination will be without incident. This was just a stop on his way for a Holiday visit.(about a 14 hour out-of-the-way stop, that is)

Good luck with the install Will, hope it all goes well.

Congratulations Keith for finally getting rid of it and congratulations AstroWill for a good find. I'm sure it was in remarkable shape Keith and I'd have loved to have it myself if only there hadn't been so many states separating us.

Thanks Carter,

I am glad it went to someone that could use it. If I couldn't have found someone by the time Spring Clean Up came around, it would have been in the dumpster for sure. This reminds me, I need to cancel the ads from the local spots as the bed/bench is no longer available.

AstroWill is off to spend time with family someplace in Eastern PA, so he said he won't be by a computer until after the Holidays. Thanks needs to go to Will, for saving the bench/bed from the Land Fill.

Wow Pennsylvania is farther from you than I am.
In fact, AstroWill could have dropped that bench off on his way past me.
Now I'm upset, do you think he planned his family living in PA just so he could get the bench and then drive past me?
I think it's some sort of conspiracy and now I'm going to have to lock my van, just in case he thinks the seat would look better in it than his.
I mean what if he's placed family members in my neighborhood just so he could steal my van too?
There is a new couple down the street that I almost never see come out of the house.
Oh no, I'm feeling paranoid. Where's my medication?

You know foil is often overlooked as an accessory and boy does it ever make a fashion statement. It just screams,"I don't care what you think and you don't know what I'm thinking because you can't read my mind while I'm wearing this, ha ha." Yeah so foil has a bit of a juvenile attitude but hell who wouldn't be a little full of themselves with all that Bling.

My cat actually told me the same thing , "That they were coming after my cupholders."
He seemed quite distressed over it too, or maybe it was the weight of the van on him.
I was of course using the cat as a wheel chock or "speed bump" as some have called it.
Safety first, cant have the van rolling away again.

I came up with a fool proof way to protect my cup holders though.
First I cut them into small (dime sized) pieces and then distributed the parts (mixed of course) in 6 or maybe 8 different locations.
Let's see em try to find all the pieces and reassemble the cup holders.
Heck even I have forgotten where I hid them all.
On hindsight I maybe should have just put them into my safety deposit box but, then I would have had to find a place to keep the Kennedy assassination file.
Oh well at least they won't get my precious. Those filthy thieving Hobbitses.

We need to remember to keep all of our precious property, perfectly safe. That goes for our vans, and especially our cup holders. You never when the other guy is going to get them. One can never get too many of them which drives many to crime.(damn cups holders)

Just remember, ... nuff said!

Thanks again Keith!
It was nice to meet both of you, hopefully next time we will have more time on our hands. I have made it to my Detroit stop before heading to PA, complete with internet. There was one incident in Ohio, stopped to pay a toll and lost my wallet for the first time in my life, went back to try and find it but without luck, hopefully someone will find it and kindly mail it to me. Fortunately there was a $20 and some $1s in the van that paid my tolls and gave me just enough fuel to get to Detroit. Really wish I hadn't just gone to the bank beforehand. I can't wait to get the seat/bed mounted in the van and wired up. I also picked up some gray leather seats for the front, with a jump seat for the front middle. Pictures will be sure to follow.

That reminds me, the jump seat in the middle adds two extra cupholders, the primary reason for the seats :)
Best Regards,
Will

Glad to hear you made it to Detroit. Sorry for the lost wallet. This time of the year is when the professional pick pockets are out. It may have been that nice guy that bumped into you when you were just standing there. Good luck with the rest of your trip.

It sure was nice visiting with you and your sweet Son. When children are at that age, seems they are so full of questions. His warmth and intelligence were delightful.

Looking forward to the pics of the front and rear seating when you get them installed. Drive safe and see you next time you are close.

Happy Holidays, Lynn & Keith
