87 Astro Cluster Swap

87 Astro Cluster Swap

Postby shinguki [OP] » January 3rd 2017, 6:41am

Hello All,
I hope this is in the correct forum.

I have an 87 Astro with a working original cluster with an LED swap.
And I'm wondering if there are any GM clusters that will fit in the Astro.

What I would like to find is a digital cluster that would look awesome in it.

Thanks in advance, Ben

If you are creative enough and have a fiber glass friend and a electrical engineer friend you buy them a 6 pack and swap any cluster you want. For example, check this cluster out. His build is not done yet but he intends to put this in an astro, and I have put this same cluster in a couple of subarus, so it can be done.

My initial thought is going to be to say that there is not a fast, cheap, or easy cluster swap that is going to fit like stock without modification to the dash. If there was, there would be loads of cars on here that would have done it. If you continue this route and find a great solution, let us know! I am sure few guys on here would love to know.

because your van has a cable driven speedometer you are limited but some folks have installed the gauges from an S-10/S-15 but they are a bit smaller so I have no clue as to how they did it. Also I live in California and we have a oldsmobile bravada (S-10 clone) it has the digital dash and when the sun hits it you can't see the gauges at all. Think computer screen in the sun and thats what you have.
