03 astro climate control bulbs

Postby 1lowcab [OP] » February 6th 2017, 12:33am

Just seeing if anybody knows the bulb type/size for the climate control panel offhand, also how many are in there.

Pic pulled from the interwebs so you know what I'm talking about.

I don't feel like taking it apart and checking as it's cold out, LOL!

194 style bayonet base bulbs are what's in my 89. Same thing that's in the rear side marker lamps and lic plate illumination. They replace nicely with 194 incandescents (get the kind WITH the plastic base installed on the lamp) or with LED replacements. The LEDs don't dim quite as smoothly as the incandescents but that's not a problem with me.

I think there were something like four lamps in my main speedo/gauge cluster, 1 or 2 in the HVAC area. But mine is very different than yours, I'd think.

Websites like Sylvania or other bulb makers have cross ref charts for vehicles that will tell you the part numbers. The bulbs are super inexpensive. So buying a dozen is just a couple dollars. Don't have to worry much about buying the exact number.

Well, it was nice and warm today so I pulled apart the dash to check the hvac bulbs.

The 194's would be too big for an 03, on mine I have 2 bulbs, 1 is marked FWG203 and is 6mm wide x 13mm long. The other bulb has no markings and is 5mm wide x 7mm long.

Here is the single bulb in the headlight switch, no markings, 5mm wide x 7mm long

And here is the instrument bulbs with its T10 ice blue LED replacement.

All lit up

Now I have to try and find leds to replace the hvac and headlight switch bulbs.

Here's a cross reference site -

SBL LEDs also has a pretty good cross ref.

They're a neo wedge led light. Either T5 4 or 3 I can't quite remember the sizes from when I ordered them. The ones off eBay have a shorter base than the stock lights so I pulled the led's out of the bases from eBay and soldered new leads into the chips and put them in the stock bulb base.

They were similar to these but the ones I got were SMD
