Mercedes Benz and Cadillac are the only 2 that come to mind.

I thought about getting a third row from a conversion van...the bed one. THAT would be pretty sweet.

Rolling Rock, you use yours for work? is it filled with tools like Jasen's?

Just had an idea.

The front seat belts bolt under the rear set bolt so, get the left and right seat belt buckles off the front seats at the PnP and I think the rear seats center belt was just a lap belt, so pull the plastic cover off of one of the fronts, cut the nylon belt off sew the lap belt in it's place.

Mercury Villager/Nissan Quest seats have lap belts on them, and mount to a flat floor. That's what I have in the middle of my van. Shoulder belt mounts to the factory location, not sure if that's there in a cargo or not. I have some pics on my gallery, not sure if they'll help you or not.

2007 up Honda Element seats would work if you want to spend the money. As far as a junk yard pull, that's gonna be a toughie.
A temporary fix usually becomes a permanent solution, therefore it does not exist.

Thanxxx - yeah something like this works cause the belt is already in the seat - all I have to do is bolt it on without fudging with the belt too much... :ty:

Villager/Quest. Look for the shoulder belt mounting point on the wall.

That isn't a real bench seat though. It is a 40/20/40 split seat.

It's still all one piece for where the butt goes, so therein lies the problem...

Do you just want a single seat to leave more room for cargo? I only ask because the stock bench seats in our passenger vans have the middle belt built in. That or you could bolt the front seat buckle down beside a third front seat (of course mounted in the back) and just attatch a middle seat lap belt to the seat somehow. Rear benches are a dime a dozen...

I GOT ME ONE!

I picked up a seat from a 2000something Chevy Silverado... the seat looks like this with the belt already in it!

Image

Im gonna mount the [silverado] drivers seat directly behind the astro drivers seat in ham cargo van LIKE A BAWS!

Now HOPEFULLY the astro/silverado is on the same platform where the little ribs of the deck match up -- now wouldn't that be BOSS!

Oh and I got the seats off cragslist, for guess how much.... FREE!!! LIKE A BAOUWS! :bouncy:

I'll post up pics of the install later on....

DONE!

Postby Rolling_Rock [OP] » September 9th 2012, 9:24pm

WELL...

I DID IT!

LIKE A BOSS! Astro-Van 3-seater!!!!! YEAH!

The seat - GM/CHEVY Silverado 2000ish

Why? This is a 'rare' seat that comes WITH the seatbelt attached TO the seat itself (no need to mount seat-belts to the body of the van)

The process was simple - test fit, drill your holes, paint the area for rust protection since the seat will be in there fora while presumably, put in your hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, etc) Silicone the bolts to prevent rust. DONE!

I chose the seating position to maximise the 'cargo' area of the van. ...like a baws.

pix

Image

^ 4 HOLES drilled -- also noticed I pained the deck white w/ 3 coats to retard the inevitable rust underneath

Image

^ ...lookin good, like a ...boss..

Image

^ BOSS! all done.. bolted up... DO NOTE a few washers are needed to SHIM up the 'low side' in this particular application... in my case the side towards the drivers side...

Image

^ all the way 'back' - NOT alot of leg-room. This was done PURPOSELY to maximise the 'cargo' area of the van. The seat is great for a child, kid, womenz, little-person, etc. If someone taller than 6'0'' sits there a mere 20 degree twist to the left and he can stretch his legs in teh center area between the driver and pass front seats (like-a-boss)

Image

^ Check that out! Is that BOSS or what! The seat pulls ALL the way up to the pass front seat and reclines forward to give MAXIMUM cargo space! Its as if the seat is barley there! BAWS!!

Image

^ still plenty of room for the slider to open and shut and be of use

Image

^ Executive level (boss) comfort in a humble white astro van...

Image

^ very inviting....

Image

^ Plenty of room for JUNK still!

 :ty:
