Overhead console

Overhead console

Postby mikevr007 [OP] » November 9th 2010, 1:07am

I added an overhead console a couple of years ago to my '03 that hadn't come with one. After fabbing a couple of mounts and cutting the headliner (and recovering the console), everything plugged right in. After installing the first one (got it for free), I found that the display module didn't work (not even the compass). Got another one on ebay that also had the trip computer. After checking the schematics and installing a temp sending unit I installed the new console. The ambient temp doesn't work and the trip computer only displays gallons used....E for everything else. The only thing that really works is the compass. Finally my question...
Is there anything else I need to do to make this work?

Both the VSS and the class 2 data wire must be connected to the console wiring, and then you can calibrate the compass and temp , and before you calibrate you must make sure that you have set the Zone variable . Does it display the temp at all ? Did you try resetting the readout? Is temp sensor new or in good working order?
