Time to change egr valve and map sensor

Time to change egr valve and map sensor

Postby khundan [OP] » June 7th 2012, 2:25am

I have a '94 4.3L with a z vin. It threw off codes to replace the egr valve and the map sensor. I replaced the map sensor but am feeling nervous with the egr valve. I believe it is 10 mm bolt on it but it feels a little loose. Someone suggested it could be a 9.5 mm but that seems way to odd. I started it up after the map sensor and there is no code, but it is running a little rough.

I'm feeling like I should change the egr valve. Could someone tell me what bolt size that is? I really do not want to strip it and have to use an easy out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They are 10mm. Try another 10mm socket, prefrably 6 pt, or a box-end wrench.

Oh, and most EGR valves don't die, they get plugged. Pull it off, clean it, reinstall it with a clean screen gasket by Dorman/HELP!
