There are cooked in there pretty good, there is a socket made for them, I used a tubing wrench (flare) which worked fine. If an open end wrench slips I would pick up a tubing wrench or the 02 socket. You don't want to round it off and make it a real PITA to get out.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I'm going to be using a crows foot then go from there. Putting in the new O2, I just put it straight in? No grease or anti-seize? This is another first for me. Thanks

Anti-seize, yes. It usually comes with the replacement O2 sensor.

I must be lucky. I removed mine with a simple cresc wrench. No problems at all.

The sensor should come with a dab of anti-seize on the threads. If the threads are dry, by all means, put some anti-seize on

them prior to installation. Easy on the torque, treat it like a spark plug... Snug, tight, but not to where the item starts to turn

a bit easier in the hole !

Got it!!! Man what a fight! It was replaced at some time. It's kinda cool that this ole gal was a one owner. Also the person only lived about 20 mins away if that. It cool be to talk the original owner. I plan on ordering a ac delco O2 sensor on Friday. I just gotta call my local dealer to confirm I have the right O2.
