mass air flow senser, what exactly is it?
if i have this code, am i on deep sh*t ???

and how much extra work is involved to convert a 98 astro to standard trandmission? are most mechanic shop can do it? or has to be some shop specialized in astro

ok, i have tried to open the air filter thing, and notice some small chunks of leaves on the little honeycomb net on the senser, but one thing i did wrong is,,, i touched the net out of curiousity,
dont know did i damage the thing....
and i reset the batttery and connect the battery again, the engine light still come on...

Just "touching" the flow fins shouldn't cause any problems, as long as you didn't bend them, which would close off some air flow.
The plastic housing of the electrical unit underneath the air flow section can crack, let moisture in and fail - happened in an old Celebrity we had some years back.
My wife took a 6 hr trip to NH last weekend & our '02 threw this code, but it cleared during the return trip.

You can try lightly tapping that electronic module of the MAF with a screwdriver & note a temporary improvement as you tap it if it's causing poor idling.

Check the electrical connector. It needs to be clean and tight. The code can only be cleared with a scanner. The old "disconnect the battery" trick won't work.

thank you very much,,,
but my van has normal idling,, when i hit the maf with something, nothing happens...
sometimes i had to floor the throttle to get the van just moving,,, especially the engine just started ( cold or hot)
