Temp gauge not registering

Hi Guys
Back with another issue.
Have been trying to figure out why my temp gauge shows nothing when warm or hot.
I turn on the ingn. and the gauge maxes out then disappears (Bar graph style ((digital?))
I have replaced the water pump and t-stat as well as the temp sensor at the t-stat housing and still nothing
Radiator and heater core hoses all are hot
Good heat to the heater control box ( issues there but ill wait to post those _
I know there are 1 maybe 2 more temp sensors. One located on the drivers side of the block just below the valve cover and the other on the P side by the dip stick
Are either one on those responsible for sending that signal to the temp gauge?
does the computer send the signal is the gauge itself bad any ideas

Not exactly sure on the astro, I would pull the wire off the one you suspect is the bad sensor and ground it to the block, if the gauge pegs you know it is the sensor. What I do is pull the sensor then go down to the parts store with my multi meter and compare the reading between the new sensor and the old. Then try and figure what the heck the readings actually read. Sounds like you need to replace the other sensor.

OK. Gages 101:

There are two temp sensors on the everlovin' 4.3. The sensor that you changed sends info to the computer. The other that sends info to the gage is on the drivers' side head in between spark plugs # 3 and 5.

Check to see if the wire is attached, or broken. You can check to see if the sender is bad by taking the wire off the sender, Key On Run, gage should show FULL COLD, then touch the sender wire to a good ground, and

the gage should show FULL HOT.
