Heater Tube/Hose

Hi,
I have an '87 Astro 6cyl with the compressor on the passenger side and alternator on the driver side. The metal tube that goes from the intake manifold and over the engine to the heater core is rusting and I want to replace it but it appears to be secured by a bracket at the front. I can't see how the bracket is attached and am beginning to think the compressor has to come off. Can anyone tell me how that bracket attaches? Could also use some ideas on alternatives to the OEM steel tube as I think the rust has clogged my heater core.
Thanks

It comes out of the back of the intake manifold and up over the engine. Its the right side metal tube in this shot. It takes a 90° dive down behind the compressor up front, straightens out and then makes a 90° right turn to the heater core. Sure would make better sense to get hot water from the water pump though.
