3" Body Lift On My 97 Astro

3" Body Lift On My 97 Astro

Postby grandamle91 [OP] » September 28th 2010, 2:45pm

Well I got my body spacers in today, had everything pulled so all i had to do is swap in the 3" spacers, and well after putting the 2 middle ones in, i went to do the back 2 and there completely different bolts, the middle bolts are 1/2 std thread and the front\back are 12mm x 1.75 thread, I wish that was mentioned some were on here (might of missed it) but now i have to walk to mac's hardware and hope they have the 12mm bolts.

Just thought I'd share that just in case someone else had the same problem.

I know for a 2" on a 03' you need 4-12mm x 140mm(for front and rear) and 2 14mm-140mm(for middle), I'm not sure why you would have 1/2" std. thread on your van. check out this thread http://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=4967&start=40 a little past half way down it gets talked about.

Your pics show a horizontal eyelet mounting bushing for the top of the shocks.
Is that something you built or did that Astro come with that style shock mount?

nice job evan, i got a 3" body lift as well, make sure you cut that fan shroud and move the engine oil cooler lines out of the way from the fan since after the lift they will come closer to the fan blade, also double check your power steering hose (pump to booster) and make sure is long enough since i had to have one made for me. just giving you the heads up bro...

This is just me reporting what I have been told. The question about 3" spacer's is a question of the integrity of mounting bolts that are that long over the stock length. It is one of the main reasons why when I do my 3" lift,I will be welding pipe spacers to the sub frame and stock length bolts. The rubber mounts fit into the pipes that are caped off with the correct centered holes for the mounting rubbers allowing the use of the stock length bolts.Nice job,but just a word to the wise.
