why did gm put fiberglass leaf springs on the older vans anyway and are they notorious for breaking and sagging
88 Silverado 5.7L RWD 284,000 miles (going 383 soon)
93 Astro CS 4.3L RWD 230,000 miles (89 Astro 4.3)

Hi jeff's87astro

The one thing I liked about Fiber Glass leaf springs is the level ride they gave as apposed to metal leaf springs that raises the rear end in the air a bit. Unfortunately they are notorious for cracking and splinting and why most people will replace them with Metal ones.:)

i was asking cause mine still has the fiberglass and in good shape and was making sure there dependable and thanks for the info
