Postby markmitchmarkmitch is online! [OP] » November 11th 2016, 3:22am

a former member of this club/forum gave me a set of hedman hedders 68600 all I paid for was to have them shipped to me which was 30.00 bucks, I got them yesterday sand blasted them and painted them today and I will bolt them on as soon as the bolts kit comes in. Gotta love free stuff right? Mark

well I got back this am and started installing the headers then after I got the pass on I remembered I promised pictures so her is a picture of the drivers side it has a steel tube welded to it for the egr on a vortec engine. I am going to install vortec heads eventually so I will simply go to the hardware store and get some type of cap for the tube for now.

OK so the drivers side header was equipped with a EGR tube to be used on a vortec 350 so I took it to the local hardware store and bought a cap for the tube as it may be used in the future when I install a set of vortec heads to go along with the Lt 1 cam I bought. pictures included.

Congrats again on the headers! Looking good!

All depends on how you install them.

1) Use the Hedman gaskets... they fit correctly.
2) Rough and file flat header flange surfaces.
3) Use a thin film of silicone on each side of the gasket.
4) Torque firm, but don't over-torque.
5) Re-torque a few times after a few cool-downs.

That's how I do them successfully.
Your results may vary.

Ever heard of gasket eliminator from locktight? Could that be used on both sides of the gasket? I usually use that when I don't want to have problems with a seal. Dosent the silicone burn off?

Use gasket eliminator only if you want a leak 5 seconds after start-up. It burns off around 300 F.
