V8 swap

I have been doing some looking at donor trks and suv when did chevy go to the 5.3L and is it a good swap to the Astro? Looked at and decoded some VIN numbers last night and it looks like chevy put the 5.3L in trks before the Suv's

You need more info!
The 5.3L engines were made in the Gen1 version and also in the gen3 version -- but they are
entirely different engines! The gen2 engines, commonly called the LT-1 engines were made in two sizes,
a 4.7L coded L99 and the 5.7L version known as the LT-1.
The 3rd generation are the LS series and are the most desirable. They also come in 4 different sizes.
Do a little line research on what you want ----- and can afford to spend!
