The AWD's are different than the 2WD.

Are there any drawings of the AWD motor mounts?
I've got a 97 Vortec 350 4x4 1500 donor now, so....is it just motor mounts and the oil pan that I have to fab/purchase now?

I don't see the option for AWD mounts on the JTAG site, do they even sell them? All the info I'm finding seems to be geared towards the 2WD older vans, and not the Vortec AWD swaps

Just a note, Jakepatch got rid of all his van stuff a while ago, so no need to contact him for mounts :)

I have an 03 Astro which I am installing a 99 5.7 v8 in. The engine is in, and I had a blue / red 0411 PCM programmed to a 99 5.7 vortec from a pickup truck. The PCM will not supply spark. I installed the original 4.3 PCM and it fired up immediately... short 2 cylinders of course. I matched the wiring from an 02 express van PCM diagram which only needed a few modifications, like EGR and of course the 8 fuel injectors! Im going to meet someone who is parting out an actual 02 express van with a 5.7 liter engine to purchase the PCM and hopefully it will start right up! If anyone knows more about this, Id LOVE to hear! In fact, call me! 480 266-8877 Joe

I have been searching on website from the swap requirements to make it legal and it seemed like they just want the same family type engine and etc.

Thanks for now I just need to make it possible to make this thing legal here in Cali, I am also throwing in a 700R4 transmission to make it compatible ($1,700) people be telling me that I will be hauling a** with this engine! This is what you can afford when your 25, single, no kids, no debt, and a well paid job! Also too much free time in your hands

I lived in calif before and hung out with hot rodders. It all about money, pay the referee enough and anything will pass. Roots blowers do not pass anywhere there and you see them tooling around.
General rules are. Same year or newer engine. It must pass which ever is newer smog requirements.

Now there are a million things you can do to cheat and get more power.
They check the external components part numbers and year. Exhaust etc.

Common practice is to simply completely redesign the internal parts. It isn't legal but unless somebody blows the whistle on you they will never make you take it apart to check.
A smooth idling cam is essential to the smoke and mirrors show. Porting, compression and bore and stroking will go un-noticed. Go tune it one way to pass at a dyno. Then put in the power settings the rest of the year. Just save your emissions settings and run the right gas when you test.

It is easier to sell crack in California than to pass a smog test, with a engine swap. They are a pain. But it can be done.

Good luck and have your wallet ready.

I took the motor mounts from a V8 and two pieces of 1/8 inch steel plate and bolted the steel plates to the engine then bolted the motor mounts to the frame set the engine in then marked the bolt holes with a marker from under the van
took the engine back up unbolted everything then drilled holes and bolted it all up. It took a few times to get it right but when you have more time then money then you figure it out. If you want to try this I can (after the snow melts) take some pics and measurements of mine for you. Just remind me in a few weeks as I am forgetful. Mark

How much is that you have to pay? So I can get this engine, just tune it to the California settings and we are good to go?

If it is a California engine with Calif smog equipment. You should be good.
How much you pay depends on the referee you get. It was 200 bucks a pop starting out. 20 years ago. You had 3 rounds at least to go through if it wouldn't pass by then you just paid your fine and they gave you a pass.

It been a while since I been out there. That is what is going on. I would ask the locals for the updated version.

Now that you expecting the worst. Will luck yours will go smoothly. Getting the swap verified I mean. It can be a nightmare. Even a smooth swap smog is aggravating. Now your ready for it. Just keep pushing and jumping their hoops with a smile. You will get there.
Good luck
