ATF Smell: Solution

ATF Smell: Solution

Postby longyard [OP] » May 23rd 2011, 3:30am

I've been smelling ATF while driving my van, but couldn't find a leak anywhere. However, this Saturday, while changing the coil, I found out that the bracket that supports the middle of the trans. filler tube and mounts near the coil, had vibrated enough so that it pulled away from the tube and left a 1/4" hole in it. This is where my ATF smell was coming from. SO... to fix it I wrapped the hole in duct tape, then wrapped that with a 1" x 2" lenght of sheet rubber, which I clamped on with a hose clamp. No more smell.

I think you should apply for a job as a truck assembly line worker. Sounds like you'd be good at it. Ha.

Not laughing at you. Have you ever watched the movie Operation Petticoat ? I love that one, especially the chief mechanic... After the

nurses are aboard.

Bravo Zulu to you.
