Finally figured it out. :)

Finally figured it out. :)

Postby MySafari [OP] » June 4th 2011, 2:43am

When I posted that my wifes van was running - I was wrong. Im referring to - Need your opinion.
After following the advice from others my van did run better but continued to die when driving.
What I did was tap the side of the distributor cap with a screw driver while the van was running, It would die. Tried it again and it died again.
I havent decided if its the Ign Module( it tested ok) or the dist pick-up but after a dist. swap the van is running good.
I started this adventure on April 27th and finished on June 3rd.
Thanks again for the input from everyone as I found several things that needed fixed or replaced.
Just wanted to let people know what it took to get it going. Hope this might help someone else . Mike

Looks like that was the problem. Van is still running great after 5 days.
Just picked up new upper plates today so will get those on this week.
I hope my solution will help someone else in the future, Although I dont think hitting it with a screwdriver is a recommended service procedure. :D
Thanks again. Mike

I actually think that is a direct quote from the manual ;)

Glad you got it fixed!

That's how you test a knock sensor- why not an ignition module too?!
