does a 91 4.3 have roller rockers and lifters?

Postby 91custom_m'lady [OP] » July 19th 2011, 6:52am

I am new to this forum and i have a 1991 astro custom hitop and it currently has 250XXX on the meter and i am wanting to build a hot 4.3 with the edelbrock intake and cam along with port and polished heads and dome top pistons but i was wondering if the 4.3 has roller rockers and lifters because if not i need to order some. According to various websites some say they do have them and some say they dont so if anybody has torn one apart from the pre obd2 period could you please help
PS it is not the high output if this helps

Thanks for your help

I've heard that the flat hydraulic lifters (nonroll) were in 1985 & maybe 86, (all the 2 pce rear main seal engines)
My 87's have hydraulic roller lifters.
all the early blocks had stamper rockers, I think they started roller rockers in the years post 1999 or 2000, but I'm not positive, cept to say it only on those newer vortec blocks.

a great way to destroy a new motor is to use the old rollers on a new cam.
