1995 astro van Ignition control

Postby jesuskut [OP] » June 3rd 2009, 8:36am

This is regarding our Chevy Astro van problem, that it suddenly shutdown during the driving.
We brought the said car in GM Chevrolet service center, in our place and they happened to change the fuel pump and fuel filter, to make relieve the car's problem.
And not only that i have spent enough already and waiting for couple of weeks just to repair it.
But still the trouble remain until now.
We suggested for the ECU scanner, where we can have diagnose the electrical parts and absolutely there was finding in it, Error code 0042 Ignition control but the service center here cannot do the procedure for repairing it, please help me about my problem.
Anyway can anybody provide me the procedure and diagram of this error code because GM Chevrolet service ask me to provide it.

Out of curiousity, where are you located? It seems odd that a GM service center would not be able to get that information.
Diagnose 1st, never be a parts changer!

does the vehicle startand run and then shut down? Or does it not start at all? I once had a 93 chevy that had 60,000 miles that would shut down while driving. the vehicle had no other problems than that. Changed all kinds of sensors, wires, fuel pump, pressure regulator. Finally i swapped out the entire ECM and that solved the problem. Never died on me again. When the vehicle died all the lights in the instrument cluster would light up. just an idea.
92 CL EXT 190k rebuilt motor and trans. Runs like a champ. Quiet, clean and dependable.
