help diagnosing steering problem

Postby brdd [OP] » April 25th 2011, 1:45pm

I have a 2002 GMC Safari AWD. 190,000 miles. New idler arms and draglink. Original ball joints. One year-old tie rods. When I turn all the way either right or left the steering gives a jerking and popping feel to it. It only does this when turned all the way. The steering box is visibly leaking fluid. Can you give me direction? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks in advance

Don't turn the wheels hard left or right to the stops and leave them there, it puts a LOT of strain on the pump. :nono:
