power steering pump interchange?

will a power steering pump from a 1996 5.0L v8 work on a 1988 5.7L without any mods?

It all depends if the '96 has a 2 wire sensor on the pressure port. If it does, then no.

You may have to swap pullies, though. There is a wide one and a narrow one.
