Colorado Fire

We are safe, but this picture is a view from my house.

Notice anything odd? Maybe not, because I can't find an earlier picture, but there should be a mountain there, called Pikes Peak.

This is one of the smaller ones, near Colorado Springs.

Also, am I a horrible person for having "This Fire", by Franz Ferdinand and "Fire Water Burn", by The Bloodhound Gang stuck in my head right now?

Colorado could do with some flooding. One fire was only like ten miles north of our house, and had my mom having everyone pack emergency bags, just in case, but I think they've almost got that one out. But the one on the other side of town is still raging pretty bad, and the one way up north is now the second biggest in Colorado's history, I think.

My little brother was freaking out earlier, but he has calmed down, and while I think it is really sad to see so many people out of their homes, not knowing if they will ever see them again, I try not to worry about things too much. One of the things you learn from getting to know cancer patients and siblings. Life is gonna happen. You can only hang on and hope for the best.

NINE wildfires as of today. Unbelievable. I live in Lakewood, and I was fishing near Leadville this weekend. We saw the smoke from the fire near the Ibex Mine on the way home. Please be safe, and don't be a hero.

skies have been red and smoky over the weekend in Utah. Had major ash fallout in Salt Lake and Park City on Friday. 100 degree temps and strong winds aren't helping matters. It's going to be a long, hot, smoky summer in the West. We're under a statewide burn ban and there have been something like 20 fires started this year alone from trap shooting!! Be careful in dry lands.

To the OP, looks like you're home has a lot of defensible space, which is good. Still sucks anytime there is a fire nearby. CO has a lot of fuel load from Pine beetles and recent warm winters, especially last, haven't helped that beetle kill situation one bit.
