What would you charge to move someone?

What would you charge to move someone?

Postby tedanderson [OP] » May 9th 2010, 12:40am

I'm not in the moving business but if I can use the Safari to make some money, I'll do it.

What's a good price to charge someone to move their furniture if you are going to be with them all day.. say.. roughly 12 hours and you expect to make 6-8 trips between residences? And to add to that, it's a last-minute move. (she's getting put out of her place) This woman isn't exactly a stranger but she's not quite a friend either. She is simply some hot chick that I allowed to string me along back in my "nice guy" days. So the other day she asked for my help (because she thinks I am still that same nice guy). I find it funny how women like that never ask the current, ex, or potential boyfriend.. but they always ask me.

So at first I thought about telling her "No, go find someone else. This isn't my problem." but then on second thought, I could really use the money on what would be a relatively easy move. No steps, no hills, nothing too heavy for the average man.. and on top of that I want compensation for previous years of emotional distress and heartbreak.

So what would be considered a fair price? I'll tack my other punitive damages on the price.

Just say "No"... it ain't worth the hassle nor the after-effects you may suffer from it. Even nice guys can still say no. I'd be very, very wary.

I used to be a nice guy that couldn't say no. But with age and wisdom I have learned to say no.

Ok.. so the consensus suggests that good ol' Regan Era statement. I'll Just Say No... for no amount of money. After thinking about it, it's quite odd that for as many "favors" as she does for guys, she can't get them to reciprocate.

So today I called the woman and told her I wouldn't be available to do it. When she pressed the issue, I started asking some pointed questions like "Where is the BF? Why can't you hire a professional company? You don't have any other friends?"

I don't think that I'll ever see or hear from her again.

Actually at this point in time I am kind of indifferent as far as my friendship/relationship etc towards her. I was just trying to gauge whether or not it would be a worthwhile transaction.

ANY one-sided relationship is doomed. It doesn't matter which side you're on, it's never a good thing.
