Early dog dish hub caps on later model?

Early dog dish hub caps on later model?

Postby 888 [OP] » April 17th 2017, 1:16pm

I did a few searches before asking but didn't find the answer to this one:

Will these dog dish hubcaps fit on any year Astro or did the wheels change at some point?

Image

I had a set of those on my old Astro cargo van and liked the look.

The auction indicates they fit 1984 through 1991, I now have a 98 with the stock 5 spoke steel wheels and was thinking about swapping to the old school centercaps on conventional steel wheels.

I'd really like a set of the Wheel Vintiques flat cap rally wheels with the Astro bolt pattern but they are too much for my beater daily.

TIA

Joe

I have a 1997 Astro Van with steel wheels and those hubcaps. I don't think my steel wheels are 5 spoke, just whatever came on the base model cargo van.

You need to use the plain steel wheels with the raised ring w/nubs around the center for the dog dish caps.
Any kind of styled, 5 spoke wheel will not work.

I knew that, I just wasn't clear on whether the plain steel wheels changed at some point in the run so the early caps would no longer fit. The eBay ad said these would fit model years through 1991.

Thanks

They were not available on the 2nd Gen only the 5 spoke and alloy wheels. You will have to look for them from a 1st Gen vans.

My 97 cargo van has plain steel wheels from the factory. According to the parts PDF the steel wheels were used from 1985 - 1999.
