GM / Chevy Wheel Bolt Patterns

GM / Chevy Wheel Bolt Patterns

Postby Lumpy [OP] » September 12th 2011, 4:23am

I stumbled across this webpage showing a collection of GM lugbolt patterns.
Same pattern doesn't necessarily mean it will fit our vans, due to offset/backspace,
but for those seeking to adopt wheels from some other machine, it's a good start.

Very groovy Jasen.

I note that both sites list the stock wheel size for Astros incorrectly as 15x6.

As I'm finding with my spring experiments, it seems like when using parts from one
car into another, it's not a case of right or wrong info. It's a case of "this might be
a good place to start".

Now the owner of 4 sets of leaf springs.

If you weren't down there in Aridzona I'd take a couple of spare leafs off your hands. I'm thinking of either helper springs or building a 4+1

Yeah, that.

I got my Cragars from a newer 2WD pickup. Great, I thought, they should bolt on with no problem. WRONG. Bolt pattern is same, but somewhere in the 90's they changed from 1/2-20 to 14mm lugs on the p/u (most likely the Express vans too). And my Cragars were lug-centric, meaning that they used the shaft of the lug nuts to center them (not like acorn head, which center the rims with their cone shape to pull them in). And the outside diameter of the 14mm lug nuts are .75 compared to the .68 of the 1/2-20 lugs. That was a headache!

I put the silver rally wheels with chrome rings on my '99, they came of my '82 Sierra. I like it, pretty retro looking.

The link shows the astro/safari having a 5x127 bolt pattern which is 5x5 when the mm is converted to inches.
