Clutch Pedal Wanted

Clutch Pedal Wanted

Postby Yellow-Checkers [OP] » February 28th 2015, 5:59am

Does anyone have or know of where i can get an OEM clutch pedal, I have a Low 11 second BB 427 87 cargo with a powerglide, and have thought about putting a Tremec TKO 600 in it. I can fab a nice one using a partial brake pedal so they match but OEM would be much easier. I do have a picture of an OEM but thats all i can find.

Every now and then you see a craigslist ad for a stick shift Astro, but they're kinda rare, and being that they stopped making them with stick over 25 years ago, a lot have most likely gone to the boneyard in the sky. It is just pure luck to stumble across one.

For the record, a full-size p/u clutch pedal is about 2" longer than an Astro one, haven't checked out the S-10 ones.

Since you've actually modded (Low 11 second BB 427 87 cargo with a powerglide, and have thought about putting a Tremec TKO 600 in it) I say look into tinworm's build, he put an aftermarket clutch pedal in, might be a viable option for you.

Clutch Pedal Wanted

Postby Alexander_Rychok » March 20th 2015, 9:11am

Im having trouble finding a clutch pedal that will work for a cable clutch, all I can find are ones that only work with hydraulic clutches and have a master cylinder on them. Any ideas?

I can understand having trouble finding a cable clutch system. What used them? Use what you can find or make your own.

I'm would like to see a clutch set up in an Astro van because that would really put some fun back into driving + better mileage. I'm not sure if I could operate it with triple EEE boots though and the wheel hump.

I would like to see either some mechanical drawings of the clutch pedal or some pictures myself if anyone has any for the Astro/Safari?

Just to update, found a complete 1986 4.3 5spd van in decent shape for $200. I don't think the seller realized how rare the manual trans is. Cant wait to do a TKO 600 conversion.
