I would check to see if all of your turn signal bulbs are still good. I know that on other cars, a blown light can cause erratic signal behavior

First I think I'd simply check the bulbs. Do you have a way to do that? A two dollar continuity tester will do that. Might take a torx bit or something to get the lenses off so that you can get to the bulbs.

Make sure the bulbs are ok first. Then start suspecting more difficult stuff.

I once had something similar. Someone had tied up the bare trailer lights without wrapping them with electrical tape and they were shorting out against the body. I would put the left blinker on and the right blinker would blink. Dangerous to say the least. Worth a look see.

Once upon a time, the standard method of signaling a turn was to use the left arm/hand out of the left window.

I was following a car being driven by a little, but not old, lady who was holding her left arm out the window, but

giving signals that were unfamiliar to me. She would signal a right turn, then drop her arm, and shake her hand

like she was canceling the previous signal, after which she would signal a left turn, followed by the cancel that

signal, then a slowdown signal...followed by, you guessed it, a cancel that last signal signal. And so it went for

a number of miles. What was really confusing was, that sometime she would signal with her right hand (???)

Finally, she did execute a turn, but without giving any signal, into a shopping center parking lot. I was

curious enough to follow her, and ask what in the carnation she was doing making such signals.

Her reply.... Why, I just had my nails painted, and I was drying them.

Exactly. I kept wondering why everyone was driving so crazy.

I have a suspicion it's a bad turn signal switch. Were any bulbs replaced recently? If not, that's one of the next things I'd look at.

You'd best check the bulbs to see if they were put into the correct sockets. Sounds like Murphey was on the job...
