Only way to tell is to try it. But dropping the tank not fun. So if it does go out the warentee ain't putting it in for you. And your van sits waiting the replacement.

Depends. How much do you rely on your van? Cheap pumps have time and again proven why they are cheap pumps when used in these vans. Many stories of them only lasting 6-12 months can be found on the forums. Do you have a wife and/or kids that could be stranded by a dead pump?

The ACDelco/Delphi pump are proven performers usually lasting well over 100k miles and shopping online can be had for roughly the same price as the off brand pumps at the local parts store.

Yes, I know my signature states Grumpy is using a cheap rebuild kit and I've had good luck with it thus far. However, Grumpy is a toy that can sit in the driveway for weeks on end if need be.

We wont be using it too much, but I'm planing a trip to Florida, and is a 12 hrs drive one way only so for that I'll have my parents on and I don't want to have problems so I'll look for an ACdelco then.

And for me she is Moby Dick cause she's all white, and is not small hehe

Thanks guys

Try as I may, I could not find any seller of this item who will admit to a brand name or country of origin. The interchange numbers refer to

Real OEM (GM brand name) and the Airtex brand name for the same type assembly. I don't think I would be the guinea pig in this case.

$60 is a really good price, and I know it is appealing. I did see the same item listed on 2 or 3 different web sites for as little as $70

and as much as $130. I don't think the OEM would cost that little.

I vote: this is too good a deal to pass up. (Usually, that means I pass it up !) In the event you don't pass this up, there will be a $60

fine levied for any whining in regards to "why I should have passed this too good of a deal up !"

OK, so flay me with a fuel pump wiring harness...I have always used the Airtex brand as the item of choice when pump replacement is necessary.

The only thing I can say is that the Airtex pumps that fail for youse guys, have ALWAYS stood by me as well as the OEM. Can't say why I continue

to have good luck with them, but I ain't gwanna change horses in mid-stream this late in the game. Say what you want, I'll stick with what works

for me. As I have said before, if I find that I don't get at least comparable service from any particular part as I do from the OEM, I dump it, 'EL QUICK-O'.

"And that is all I have to say about that."

I don't know about the pump, but the seller scares me a lot! Has problems with sending used, open and returned items. :nono:

Unless the seller has 99.4 or better, I pass them up.

EDIT There is a reason for keeping the sales private.

If it was an ipod knock off I would say buy a few of them and maybe one will work. As for a fuel pump, that is a piece of junk. Best case you could get a year out of it. Worst case is it will sort of work and do strange things.
I would be more willing to pick a piece of gum up off the sidewalk and chew it than I would be to buy this pump.

I think with any repair you have to figure out how big of a dice are you willing to roll?

As stated, its not a dome bulb that you can reach up and change. I am maybe the most frugal shadetree mechanic but there really are some things that are not worth it.

I paid like $870 to have a pump put in only to take a 300 mile trip and have it die. Had to do the job there too and then hassle the other garage endlessly to only get half the money back.

Is it worth it?
