I'm not sure if your van has the ignition system hooked in to the security system or not, but out of curiosity - do you just not like these wires? I don't see any reason to cut them, unless there's a legitimate reason...

Not heard of car guard , but likely the same thing , in 95 GM used the VATS system on most cars but don't think they used it on Astro , it was 98 before it was common on an astro and it was called Passkey then , If you have an aftermarket system you would be doing yourself a favor by getting the wiring diagram for your system and then use it to determine which wire to disconnect , otherwise you may cause a problem cutting wires that you do not know where they go to .

thanks phantom, in sweden there is a little difficult to get some wiring diagram, and it shood be a big help for me if you could show me some diagram of the swap from 4,3 to 350lt, my astro is a -95, and the harnes from a -96 roadmaster, engine -94, the most connection are done, but it would be good if i have something to check whid, the last i need is some wrong wiring and FIRE!!!! :ty:

swapping the 4.3 to a 350 can vary in diagrams and it also depends on what exactly and how much was swapped during the swap , I am puzzled somewhat in that you say you have a 95 Astro which is OBD1 , then you say you have the harness from a 96 Roadmaster which is OBD2 and the engine is a 94 which is OBD1 ,,,why the 96 harness? ,,how much of the harness is used ? are you using the factory 95 ECM ? if not what ECM/PCM are you using? what make model and year of car did the engine come from? Do you have a chip in the key? most astros do not use the chip in the key , if there is a chip in the key a simple resistor placed inline can override the security system .

Are you having a problem with security and if so what type of problem and how did you determine the problem ? I don't recall a security light in a 95 astro to light up , how did you determine the matter of a security problem?
Do you have an aftermarket alarm/security system?
it is possible to modify the 96 harness to work on a 95 ,, so the question is , what exactly are the problem symptoms? and what makes you say it is related to security system? Can you take a pic of the wires you are referring to?

maybee i must get a lt1 ignition coil!
by the way..the alarm is a delfa.

Sounds more like your just not getting power to the gauge or ignition system. You need a wiring diagram from the engine donor vehicle. So you can check the hot leads for power. A service manual would be best. Some thing is just a little different between the van and the donor vehicles wiring.

are you using the factory 95 ECM ? if not what ECM/PCM are you using? what make model and year of car did the engine come from?

You need to do some testing to find out where the voltage stoppage is , an alarm system could interrupt the voltage signal , do you have a model number of alarm?

You may have a broken or corroded wire/terminal , or broken wire in the starting circuit , the ignition module may be bad , check for voltage to the ignition module , and test if coil is getting 12 volts into it
