New astro!

Postby AstroNorway [OP] » May 11th 2012, 2:44pm

Hi you guys!
I just bought my first Chevy Astro yesterday!
I live in Norway, and it is not that much of this cars down here... we got cars like Volvo v70 1,6 drive and toyota hybrid
So anyway, i went against the crowd and did buy this astro with this big motor in it, I love the van!

I took a plane to the south, and drove it 2000 kilometers back home. It was an ok trip, but nothing more.

The seller "forgot" to say that, The car dont got any dashbord lights, tail lights or only park light. Dangerous if u ask me... So anyway, i changed a fuse, wich was on a single cable, (not in the fusebox). and it all worked for like 20 minutes... then the fuse went out again... and so on and so on. Now a normal fuse is in, but still no lights? Any suggestions?

The other problem is sometimes when u drive it, check engine lights fires up and the van starts driving in 50 km/h !!! I have to force it down with the brakes, and restart engine... then its normal again...

I am not used to work on American cars, so I hope I can get some advise from you on the forum.

The car is a 1994 (first time registred 96) 4,3 v6 with 157 000 kilometers on it!

thanks mate, yeah im gonna drive to the shop now to get a code reader, and ill get back to you with the codes!

U think the connections are fine, but the car is in a "emergency" mode so she dont fire up any lights?

The only lights the car has is normal driving lights, but they are on a new single connection!

Ps, i tried to call the seller and ask if he was familiar with anything of this, but he only hangs up the phone...

The lights are probably something else. I didn't get to you on that, had some work calls coming in. Nice looking van. I don't know what the plug is in the 1st. picture, might be for an accessory you don't have. looking at that spliced up wiring you may need to trace it out to figure out whats what, your lighting problem might have something to do with all that stuff someone spliced in.
