Fuel Guage Issue

Fuel Guage Issue

Postby 95CargoVan [OP] » August 1st 2009, 5:57pm

I've got some spare time on my hands today and I wanted to try and deal with my fuel guage issue. I have a 95 Astro. When I fot it a few months back the fuel guage didn't work. And sitll doesn't. Here's what I've done so far. Disconnected the ground, purple and gray wires and checked for continuity and proper ground. I'm good at that point. My guage is stuck beyond FULL. After I disconnected the wires, checked the guage and I was at about 1/2 tank. Turned ignition, back to FULL. Does it sound like the sending unit is at fault? I want to make sure before I run a bunch of needless fuel out of the van and drop the tank.

Sure, the sending unit could be at fault. Unfortunately, you won't be able to just the floater until you drop the tank, as you mentioned.
Diagnose 1st, never be a parts changer!
