Mystery leak??

Postby Ingmire [OP] » November 5th 2016, 11:45pm

I'm pretty certain my sliding door is leaking. But.. It seems odd the the 'holes' where the bench seats connect to the van are completely full of water. Any thoughts if that may be coming from a different source? There was just a big night of rain.

Shouldn't be to hard to find. Sit in the van with a bucket and have someone spray a hose on it. By the time the bucket is full it should be apparent where it is coming from.

Leak fixed :) where the trunk trim meets the floor was practically wide open for rain to run down and enter underneath the plastic 'weather strip'. I used silicone and self tapping screws and fastened a piece of 1/4 inch rubber down the length of the gap. I then mounted the original plastic 'weather strip' over the top (there was room for it to live inside the weather strip). The siliconed and screwed the original weather strip down, lots of rain since. Carpet is still dry :)

I was thinking you meant "Side Door" - where is this "trunk trim" of which you speak?
Filling up the seat mount pockets... golly.

Nice it's Fixed.

Trunk trim - where the rear hatch / barn doors (94 ext awd Safari) open, along the floor there is a piece of 'trim'. That allows all water to flow right into the van carpet.

And to think ... I was sitting there all this time waiting for Just A Little Definition.
I quit holding my Breath back in December over the Christmas Holidays ... waiting... tap, tap, tap ...

LOL

Is this ( BLACK Arrow ) the "Trunk Trim" to which you referred?

DSCF2993.2.JPG
The Bottom one is the one I refer to as a "Rear Sill Plate" - not sure of the Technical term ... LOL - Maybe it's called something ordinary like... uh... Trunk Trim... yeah, that's it!!
