How to clean egr valve

I need to know how you clean an egr valve on my astro van? Any good write ups concidering it seems like this needs to be done alot?

Hi Dsmisfits

Their isn't any real method to it. Just scrap it off or spray it with some penetrating fluid first, then just use something to remove the carbon. No secret to that, it's a straight forward job.:)

Go to the auto parts store to the help parts prepackaged hanging rack and buy a screened EGR valve gasket to help prevent carbon from getting into the EGR valve.

The key is using the "clean screened EGR universal GM gasket" like Gary said! Its only $5 and will save you a load of trouble down the road..........trust me! :banana:
