It is possible that it would come on with low fuel

but I wouldn't worry about it we have a 93 buick that has the same light and it comes on at random when it wants to and theres nothing wrong

I would think whenever any of the factory gauges are reading out of the normal operating range it would come on. Like if your Van is starting to overheat hopefully it would come on then......I hope I never have to find out. :chevy:

my main concern is, is it suppose to come on when the fuel level is very low.???i know it works fine for the other gauges but i haven't seen it come on for low fuel. and was wondering if it suppose too.???

I have a 98, and I ran the van out of fuel, never noticed a low fuel light. mind you my gas gauge doesnt work
my check gauges light is always on when the acessories are on.

dont run your van super low on fuel, you will break other stuff :O as i found out

no warning light until 99 or so when the BCM got added to the vans.. Also controlled automatic headlights, I think it was 99 that it was added.

No BCM in '99, first use was in 2000.

'96 and up have the check gauges light but your gauge senders have to work properly for it to function; i.e. if your gas gauge doesn't read right then the check gauge light will not work and may affect the other gauges .

It is a simple voltage comparator built into the instrument gauge cluster and is shown in the factory service manuals.

Today my wife was driving our '96 when the "check gauges light" came on.........the Van was a couple lines from the red in the temp gauge........she pulled over. That light is good for something. Stupid water pump started leaking again...............another story....just wanted to let you guys know the light did come on. I will have to ask here if it beeped or something or if she just noticed it came on. Either way it probably saved the motor as my wife never looks at the gauges when she drives.
