'99 Safari Road Tripper

Postby Hoc [OP] » April 20th 2017, 9:20pm

Hi all! Just wanted to make a topic showing what I've done, or will do, with my van (Trips, repairs, mods, etc).
17884301_1899728263386520_7041892633021878777_n.jpg

Bought this thing from my Uncle back in Jan. and I've been in love with it ever since! I plan on using it mostly as a weekend camper and for long distance trips. Also, sorry ahead of time if this topic isn't acceptable, please swiftly delete it.
Anyways, here's what I've done to it since I've bought it:
Drove it 1,200 miles to KCK and back
Replaced all the spark stuff
New right caliper + brakes
New tires + Full size spare (No more Walmart specials!)
Replaced both tail lights
New Transmission lines
"New" Heater control unit
Gotten started on the camper portion of it (below)

Things I still need to do:
Find a replacement molding for the drivers side (Drunk driver hit it while I was at work)
Figure out how to hang my makeshift curtains (Suggestions welcome!)
Swap the AC Compressor with a by-pass pulley
Weld the sway bar back together.

That's all I've got for right now, and once again, sorry if this isn't allowed in this forum, I'm still relatively new to here (and forums in general).

You are clearly in violation of the intergalactic policy enacted by Xur and the Ko-dan Armada. Pledge your allegiance to Xur immediately or you will be fired upon and your post removed. :nono:

Hang on to the old spark stuff. When the new Chinese **** craps out in a week you're gonna want to re-install it.

Welcome and yeah, you might be doin it right.

Think that reference is just a tad bit before my time. I have the benefit of working at a body shop so I get anything OEM cheap, I know not to trust the cheap aftermarket stuff. And thanks for the welcome! Side note, super envious of your van, that thing is so awesome, if I didn't have a parts guy salary that would be my end goal.

Swap the AC Compressor with a by-pass pulley
Drove to the SOFR, got to go backwards down a hill for half a mile, that was fun. She drove like a champ. Next trip planned now is Indianapolis!

KCK = Kansas City, Kansas. Just tryin to save space (that's what everyone there calls it anyway). Guess I should shorten the rally name too. Also, thanks for the welcome!

Glad to have you.
Space is free here, you'll use more explaining things to idiots like me. The signatures are really not monitored or policed as such here but common sense rules. If your sig takes half the page for every post you make that's just obnoxious. I like using the thumbnails from the gallery here but others prefer a full size pic on the page. It's your thread, your post, do what you prefer. Try not to post three threads on the same topic just because it fits in different sections, most of us set the forum page to start with "new posts" or "active topics" so the thread is often looked at but maybe not answered. Be patient, if you don't get an answer in a day bump the thread with another post, with luck someone will see it and give some help. The moderators are very relaxed and don't bother with a rulebook per se, if something offensive is posted it will be removed and you'll be warned.
I can't recall anyone ever having been given a "vacation" or any other bullsh*t like that but if the behavior keeps up they will be banned.
Sadly this happened not to long ago with a long time member. His posts were very informative and well documented with lots of pics and he was a funny, sarcastic S.O.B. His last post made his post total 11,000 but by his actions he was not asking to be banned, he demanded it.

I think we all miss him including the mods that had to ban him.

If you want to post nudity or cuss a lot there is a section here for that but the rest of the site is open to all including our kids.
Post your pics right side up and you'll be fine.
