Heat & AC Ductwork Diagram?

Heat & AC Ductwork Diagram?

Postby Slim1 [OP] » July 4th 2012, 6:46pm

Okay, I have a no frills 2002 Astro Cargo Van, and the ductwork has been butchered, and parts removed. I have been searching for a diagram that shows all of the duct pieces, btw there is a lot of reference to duct tape lol but I have not found a full view yet. If there is one on here, or if someone can post it, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have done all the vacum lines, and the main part I need to view is where the components for the windshiel defroster goes together. Guess they didn't like all the air going up there when the vac lines failed. It's a mess. lol

Thanks, lots of good diagrams there. Now if I could just figure out why they cut the bottom half of the duct going through the doghouse in half with a hacksaw, and duct taped it up, lol

Glad it helped.

Who knows why people do what they do.

Don't know what winter is like where you are, but you might think about this upgrade while your in it that deep. It sure makes a difference where I live.

Cool, even though I am in Florida, i am in the part that gets quite cold. I travel to Atlanta some, and other areas, so yeah, I like to be comfortable when I travel.

Well I guess I am off to the do it yourself salvage yard tomorrow, if it quits raining, to see if i can find one complete enough to determine what goes where on the flex hoses. :?: That is the one thing that none of the diagrams shows, and not being the one that took it apart, or butchering it up, I am lost still. Got good cold air coming out, and everything switches, except for the defroster.

Had to take a little side trip, and put a new distributor in, which shouldn't have been such a hassle, but somehow the oil pump drive shaft got turned lol so I am missing a few more hairs. lol Got to laugh at myself sometimes, everyone else seems to enjoy it. Oh, and thank you AstroWill for the tip on distributors at Skip White Performance, They are in a price war with one of their competitors, so it was $41.50 & $10 shipping, complete with sensor, rotor, and cap. Seems to be well made, and actually carries a GM number stamped in the casing.

Have not found another astro close to mine complete enough to determine what is keeping the air from coming out the defroster. The way it was to start with, instead of fixing the vac line problem they did something to make it all come out in the floor, and window vents. The duct on the doghouse has a tube connection on the drivers side, and they had that connected to the lap vent there.
SANY0001.jpg
Shows where the tube connects on driver side, and why in the world did they cut this in half only to duct tape it up :O

I don't know if all are like my utility van with this, but it also has seperate floor vents with tubes connecting them.

So now with new vacum lines, I have dash ac vents, and floor vents, no defroster. The duct going to it is there, so is there a door or something they could have taken off, or jammed that I should look for?
