Corbeau Sport Seats Anyone?

Corbeau Sport Seats Anyone?

Postby PJorgen [OP] » July 9th 2012, 1:50am

I find the stock captain's chairs uncomfortable for long drives. Does anyone have any experience with these Sport Seats from Corbeau?

I've used Corbeau seats in race cars so I know they're good quality. These are designed for Jeeps so they should be rugged, dimensions look good as well. Reasonably priced, $300 each for vinyl.

I had Corbeau GTS II black cloth sport seats in my old Safari awd van, they were very comfortable and good quality. I sold the seats last year but kept the brackets. You will need brackets so factor that into the price. What I like is that the lower seat tends to be longer which gives better leg support, especially on long trips. The Recaro seats in my old BMW 320i with the leg support extension spoiled me on proper seating for life. Only negative with mounting the Corbeau is that because of the brackets they do raise the seat height some but I never felt like it was an issue (6ft tall).

I have been looking again at the Corbeau Sport Seats in either black neoprene or grey vinyl/cloth and also the Baja XRS (wider, longer). I don't feel I need the restriction of additional lower bolster of the GTS II and it makes it hard for passengers to ingress/egress, they will get worn down if not careful. I will actually probably miss an armrest now that I have gotten used to using it on occasion.

First I need to sell my two rows of mint pewter grey leather reclining rear passenger seats that I've never used and also the front leather driver (power) and passenger seats. :D

For my driver's seat I looked into lower replacement foam and there is a company I have ordered leather seat kits from in the past that will sell me a replacement leather lower as well but I prefer to sell these and put that money in a set of Corbeau seats.

Thanks for the detailed reply. When you say "raise the seat height some", do you mean over the stock height? I am not really happy with how high the stock seats are as my eye is about level with the top of the windshield. I still have good visibility but it's not what I'm used to.

Yes, the Corbeau brackets mount to the stock seat base/slider so it adds a bit of height, not to mention the Corbeau seat foam being firmer. I never had any issues with it, sometimes passengers would mention it but no issues with head room.

OK, I see. I thought the brackets would be these, which look like they completely replace the stock brackets.

No, not sure what those are for but they look kind of flimsy!

Corbeau part # D840NS (NS = No Slider).

I see they retail for $99 each now, they were around $75 when I got mine ten or eleven years ago.

Might be interested in those factory seats. Where are you located?
