Aren't there 4 prong switches that can switch between two circuits? That would be the easiest way to switch between high and low. You could wire one relay for low and one for high and wire the relay feeds to that switch.

Sure. It would be simple enough to do on the underhood, fan side of things. The "clever" aspect of it all is what Jasen is suggesting.

Washed and waxed the van on July 3rd. I did it after the sun went down. Where I live, it's better to do this under the moonlight.

I couldn't find my bushing installer/remover tools. I must have loaned them out and never got them back. I ordered another set.

Depending on how ambitious I feel, I'm getting ready to service the transmission. I picked up a filter kit from O'Rielly's this afternoon. The only brand of filter I could find in stock for a deep pan 4L60E was their Power Torque brand. On the closure strip on the box flap it read, "Fram". I plan to install a drain plug kit so I can do a 3-times drain/refill. This should give me around 80% fresh fluid (calculated). I'm not too keen on the cooler line replacement method. I KNOW I'll make a mess if I use this method.

With regards to those drain plug kits, I prefer the Dorman 65128 because it has a bolt plug instead of a pipe plug. I toss the nylon sealing washers and the plug o-ring and replace them with Stat-O-Seals (washers with bonded o-ring seals).

http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-24513-65128.aspx

I also plan to replace the broken cruise control cable end with one of these time savers:

http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-27391-41040.aspx

I'll report back on how this Help! part works out.

I also attached a dilution calculator. You can use this to estimate how many times you need to do a drain/refill to get a desired percentage to fresh fluid. Just put your numbers in the blue fields and read your results.

Got the transmission serviced, installed the drain plug and did the 3x drain/refill. The old fluid was brown and didn't smell bad but it didn't smell like ATF should either. It's nice and red and smells like it should now. The transmission was serviced sometime in the past; the pan gasket had "Wix" printed all over it. I just don't know when my father did it. He never wrote anything down.

I also replaced the cruise control cable end. I kept the factory threaded part and just used the part of the replacement that snaps onto the throttle arm. It was about a 10 minute repair and was done from the under the hood.

104 degrees F and light rain on and off at 8pm local time Phoenix - changed my spark plugs in the dark. Bosch +4s. Old ones were ACDelco plain jane copper. Color of the old ones looked just fine, and similar between all six. No oil, no melt, electrode looked good. Went in from the wheel well. Jacked up, removed one wheel with my HF Earthquake impact, did the job, then replaced the wheel. Probably could have done it just fine with wheel in place except can't sit up as close to the van with the wheel and tire in the way. Anti seize on the plugs, dielectric grease on the boots. Same antiseize on the lug studs and that band on the face of the rotor that always develops a bit of rust. Torque to 100. Test drove around the block.

Over the long weekend (4th thru the 8th) I was up north and wanted to start removing the engine but it was too hot to do anything outside except swim. On one day it set a record of 104°! This is supposed to be northern Wisconsin, not blasted Phoenix! So instead I used the donor truck to zip around town & take the canoe to the Chain 'O Lakes with my kids. Love that V-8 & 5-speed!

Got home last night from my folks and saw that my right rear tire is low. Must have picked up a nail or something last time I drove it as it had been holding air just fine for a long while now. Think it's been a week since I last started/drove it.

Put the fuel pump in today...thought it was broken, but it was the relay ground. Now I got a fresh fuel pump assembly in, maybe later this week I can start on the rusted fuel lines.

A few days ago I plugged the right rear tire, as it had picked up a good size screw in it. Then she had a bath last night, I haven't washed her since I got her over 2 years ago. I did do the rims a few times but never the whole thing (that I can remember). Hey Kenny, that advice of the WD-40 on the chrome rims, it works. Since winter wasn't all that harsh, I applied it once at the beginning and just now have washed it off. They look no worse than before. It lased well over a 1/2 year. Ok, the rims looked filthy, but at least they weren't rusting.

Here she is, all shined up!

Hey where did you get that visor thing over the windshield? I always wanted to get one, but I don't even know what they are called or where to get one. I think it would look pretty cool on my van. 8-)

I got mom's car since they on vacation. Doing a bunch of maintenence. Like the dealer was going to charge her 850 bucks to fix the leaking oil cooler issue. Cost 15 bucks for seals and took an hour to change the oil, put in the seals in the oil cooler, and tighten her serpentine belt.
Talk about highway robbery.
Anyway since I got her car and it a 90-100 degrees. I been driving hers while my radiator comes, several times. So my baby don't get hot. Anyway I start it to hear it run every day. I pulled into the driveway to get mom's in to work on it. Well I guess all that starting it with out driving got it all loaded up. I pulled it back in the garage after I was done. It was iding like Don Prudomes dragster. Sounded awsome, by the time I got my camera it was smoothing out already. But at the begining of the clip it still sounds good.

^Damnmit my computer speakers aren't working!!!! :banghead:

Cookie : Moonvisor or Sunvisor they are called. I picked up a couple for Gen 1s at a swap meet a couple years ago had one on my '92, but took it off. Too much wind noise for me because my window seals were shot in that Van. They do look cool. They are about $150 new maybe a little cheaper.

Just got my brake line ran & going to get the wifey to help bleed the brakes!!!

I may be bringing my rust bucket down to Vannin Nationals....not to show of course...

Wow that much for a new one? Thats crazy! I should have kept those two I had, but I sold them dirt cheap on here as I only paid $5 for them at the swap meet.

Brakes bleed....gonna take the beast to Vannin' Nationals. Might as well roll up in a Van to a Van Show.
