94 replace compressor and drier flushed how much oil?

94 replace compressor and drier flushed how much oil?

Postby bratliff [OP] » July 24th 2012, 3:25am

Like the subject says. I am in the middle of replacing the compressor, orifice, and drier on my 94. I blew out the lines, condenser, etc.. as well. I also have rear air if it matters. I am taking a guess about 6 oz but would prefer someone who has done this weigh in.

Thanks in advance.

If you're referring to refrigerant, I found this link that might be helpful.

http://www.autoacsystems.com/techsupport/login/acinfo/capacity_refrigerant.html

That would be if you evacuated the ENTIRE system, which it seems like you did. For a '94 Astro/Safari with front and rear air, it says 48oz.

Thank you I was actually asking about the pag oil. I appreciate the refrigerant link, I know how much I need now. I will call a dealer today if no one on here knows.

Chevymaher

Thank you for the info..

Since I just blew my lines out you think I should put in a full 11oz? Or scale it back to 8oz? I was thinking 8oz because I did not really see any oil come out of the rear air evaporator lines.. treat it like a front only system from a oil stand point.. or should I just put in like 10 and be heavy? Thanks again.. last thing I want to do is burn up a compressor..

Well I called my wife's cousin who runs a shop, he advised about 9 oz and I spread it around some in the drier, lines, compressor. I am going to button it up tonight then take it to him to pull a vacuum and recharge it.
