Blower intermittant (yes again)

So I cant find my last thread but here is where I lay.....(not stand)

I got a 3 way GM type check valve at pep. I seem to be able to blow air through it in any direction which seems wrong.

I want to just replace all the vacuum lines from ball to chck valve to both connections but can find the connection point of the right angle hard plastic one that seems to go into the wiring harness.

I will remove my dog house if needed but would (of course) rather not.

Just took a 1000 mile trip and did like 10 roadside "fixes" on the valve. Changed hose from ball to valve, changed direction of valve and where each hose entered. STILL cuts out at hill loads on highway.

Is that diagram of vacuum the same for all yrs of van? Mines a 95

Yea same problem we had at Fartstone Reckon. Everybody kept complainin. That is your air leaving vent setting when you give it the gas. Thats why I went with the bubbler dealy. Valve cheaper and most important it actually works. That plastic line is hooked to the check valve still under the hood Reckon. If I was there I would point at it and look at ya silly. But I am not.

I have an aqarium one but then do I just put it inline + use a t-fitting? So tube from ball to one way, then to t-fitting and on to both connections?

Yes that will work.

So that didnt work. My confusion is; where is the vacuum coming from and what is requiring the vacuum? So which way does the arrow point on the one way valve? To the ball or away from it?

The vacuum is coming from the engine in the intake manifold. The arrow On the valve will point toward the engine vacuum source. Direction the air is actually traveling. Mine does not have the vacuum ball and I simply did not connect the second hose from the 3 way factory check valve. That hose on mine ran the gas tanks evaporative emissions equipment. Which sat on my floor and I eventually threw away.I ran a straight line from the intake to run this on mine. I have vacuum to MAP sensor and the dash to control the vents. My lines were rotted and I only hooked up what it needed. When I replaced them

Anyway I scoured my vacuum diagrams for the vans. Here are 3 images. First shows where the plastic line enters the wiring harness on mine.

Second is a different shot of basically the same thing on a W Vin with a vacuum ball.

3rd is another W Vin showing the plastic line entering the wiring at the distributor. Mine is definitely not there. All these diagrams are labeled as being the same year van. So there are obviously factory differences.

A question I have is this. Is your vacuum ball receiving vacuum from the engine. Is that line rotted and leaking?

All you need is vacuum from engine. A direct source hook the rubber line to it then the check valve, then to this control line where ever it is on your van.

Here is yet another vacuum diagram which is not helpful at all. They strive for this when they make them. Vacuum from engine to the vacuum ball. From there through the firewall. The beauty is they are not telling where it crosses the firewall.

So maher, you have no vacuum ball at all and no trouble with vent up hills?

You are right though. I should at least replace the lines to be sure I dont have leaks, just tricky finding the ends. I had to take the doghouse off to change my dist cap.

No mine stays where I put it. It stays on vent after being floored 0-100 no problem. (Disclaimer: on a closed course, do not try this at home. lol) And mine had no vacuum ball factory.

Hi All,

Am having the same problem with the loss of vacuum from vents when pressing the gas/going uphill and I have changed all 3 vacuum lines (From the manifold to the 3-way connector, from the vacuum ball to the connector and from the connector to the firewall). So not sure what to do next. Is the valve being discussed in this thread the same as the 3 way connector that everything connects into? Thanks!
