How in the ***** do you take the brake pads out of the caliper on a 2004 astro? I've been trying to take them out and managed to get one out by pushing it towards the cylinders but the other won't go.
If they're like the '02, take a flathead screwdriver and push/pry on the clip on the back of the pad, one side at a time, to get it off. Or just bend the hell out of the tabs if you're not reusing the pads.
EDIT: if, that is, you're talking about the outboard pad like in the pic below:
If the other pad, there are tabs that ride in slots, one one each side.. Just use the screwdriver to pry each side until it's out, then clean out those slots really well for the new pads.
thanks guys, figured it out... just hit them a few times one way to push them through pass the brace or brackets.. then each one came out nicely. 15 minutes job per side and done. Braking is awesome now. Thanks again!
