Im concerned I have an oil leak at the engine/transmission seal. I've attached a couple photos for you all to check out and help with the diagnosis....I'm a little nervous about a repair between these two parts. Is it doable with normal shop tools?
That looks like the bellhousing area near the starter. Touch your finger to the liquid/grime and sniff, does it smell like oil or anti-freeze? Could be a freeze plug in the block or head rusted through. If it's oil, it's likely just a rocker cover seal, very common. Appears to be blowing down the back of the engine between the block and bellhousing. Hard to tell with the pictures sideways though.
Don't know about yours, but failing oil cooler hoses spray oil everywhere...especially in that area.
Follow the lines from the filter. I bet you'll see clumps of dirty oil at the crimps.
