Nothing special.Just take off the egr valve and remove the chunks of carbon.Replace the gasket with a screened gasket. On my 1994 LT one of the bolt holes was kind of stripped out.The inner bolt is a real crappy angle and from the yrs of people cleaning the egr and not threading the inner bolt right-it was time for a heil-coil repair.I did both bolt holes and then installed Ford exhuast manifold studs locktiting them in.It is alot easier to take off the egr and alot easier to thread on nuts to the studs.Since I did this job(going on two yrs now),I haven't had to deal with the egr again.
