Re: The '05 New Driver

The Sirius plug-n-play I had in the Astro was old. Really old. Pre-SiriusXM old. It was starting to get a little flaky and it took 5 mins to update the channels every time I turned it on, plus not all the channels were available, so it needed to go. Bought the same model I have in the Jeep NIB on eB...

...also tells me who 'tfay' is. Fat-fingered typing on my phone - that was supposed to be today  Looks pretty well-maintained to me. LIM, spider, nut kit - oh, you should have a new spider harness as well. They do get brittle and go bad and you have to have the plenum off, so might as well be...

Nope, because SportsBoy has a '97 and his has the drain plug. I don't have anything between '93 and '99.

Re: Junkyard Run

They are Posidriv, not Phillips. Make sure you have the correct screwdriver bit or you'll tear them up.

Re: 98 AWD Front Differential: How to Change Fluid?

Yeah, adding the drain plug to the front diff was the best idea GM had for a while. My '93 Bravada and '93 Astro don't have one, but my '99 and up all have one.

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

Yes, there is a drain hole. Have fun finding and clearing it ;) So what would it take to get a hint? Towards the front, rear, middle? -Andrew If you find it, let me know. I've seen mention in the service manual and I did have problems with water in the track in the '99, but no problems in th...

It’s behind the radio. If you don’t find one, let me know.

Re: Long Road Trip with a Bluetooth speaker

You'll have to use a cassette adapter with the slave cassette. If you have the cassette headunit, you plug the aux box into the port that the slave cd plugs into. Or Will has a tute on how to make an aux input on a CD headunit. My original install is in post 2 on this page: https://www.astrosafari.c...

Re: Middle Seat Brackets

If your van has brackets, they're all the same. The seat belt attachments might be slightly different between the years, but the brackets are identical.

If your van had captain's chairs for the second row, however, then you have bolts (just like the front seats) and brackets for the third row.

Re: Long Road Trip with a Bluetooth speaker

Are you sure your antenna is connected and the wire's not broken somewhere? My stock radio gets local and not-quite-so-local stations just fine. I just get ticked off at commercials and repetition. I have an aux box connected to the remote CD port on a stock cassette radio, so I have a Sirius plug-n...

Re: First ever home repair

This is how it starts, next thing you know you will have tons of tools, even have multiple of the same sized sockets, and still cannot find 1 of them when you need it! I know I have 3 different 18mm sockets, but no idea where any of them have hidden themselves at the moment. I'll bet you have my 10...

Re: Audio, Electrical, and Interior questions for doors

It's the thermal cutoff switch in the motor. There's a how-to on here to fix it permanently. I'm too lazy and just replace the window motor. Yep, plenty of speakers. Go to Crutchfield and they'll tell you what fits and what doesn't. Off the top of my head, the RPO codes for RKE is AU0 and AU3, or it...

Re: General input on things to look at

All the fluids. Rear differential, brake, transmission, coolant, power steering...clean and tighten all grounds, check all bulbs. Just basic stuff that's been ignored while it was sitting.

Re: Power cut on freeway, but started right back up after?

PB Blaster, tap with something metal (helps the capillary action), a little bit of heat and, believe it or not, actually tightening the nut slightly will help break it free so you can remove.

Re: First ever home repair

Mine were all 18mm (I checked!) heads. I didn't replace the idlers on my '93, so that's just on my '99, '00, '02 and '05. And yes, if all you have are wrenches, you can use a second wrench to extend the lever and get better leverage. I've had to do that on fuel filters, along with many other things ...
