Re: Advice Needed: Am I Crazy?

Yep. I think that's a bit much for that van.

You could get a '95 van for far under $1k, then put $3k into it to make it yours and still be ahead of that 'deal' - it's just too much.

Re: What have you done with your other vehicles today.

Looks like a pretty late 914 (black top on the bumper) 6-cyl driver. Fun.

E-type is always fun, coupe or convertible.

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

Drove it. Went up to Pittsburgh to meet my best friend and do the reverse mom swap.

Stopped in Breezewood on the way home and filled up on 90 octane without ethanol. Got 17.5 mpg for the leg with that gas. On 89 octane with 10%, I got 16.3 at best.

But ethanol is good

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

I'd love the pole barn with the lift. Or just the pole barn. Ooh, though, lift and paint booth. That'd be nice. Move the compressor out there, plumb it up with 2 different feeds - oil for tools and extra drying for paint. Though if I adopted one more Astro/Safari, I'm not sure my body would ever be ...

Re: 95 SAFARI

That spider looks great.

Turn the key and it starts is a wonderful thing.

I thought it was my imagination. My ‘02 and ‘99 both turn better than my ‘05.

Re: 95 SAFARI

Could also be the damper/pulsator in the tank leaking. That would cause it not to hold pressure. Could that cause it not to start? Yes. If the pulsator is leaking, the pump can't provide enough pressure to the injector to fire the poppet valves. But if one spider has a crack and the other leaks on ...

Re: 95 SAFARI

Yeah, don't assume the leak is under the plenum unless you can see it leaking.

Most of the time, it's the pulsator in the tank - that's the little piece of hose that connects the pump to the hanger assembly. Ethanol eats that piece up like it's candy.

Re: 95 SAFARI

Getting fuel from the schrader valve doesn’t mean you have the pressure required to fire the injector.

You need to test first...why open it up again if that’s not the problem?

Re: 95 SAFARI

Fuel pressure, KOEO? Good hot, blue spark at plugs?

How many times did you attempt to start it? Did you allow for the fuel system to prime the injectors, which would take more than one prime cycle (something like 4-5, iirc)?

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

Didn't have to drill rivets, garage replaced the originals with some low quality junk, lasted 11 months +/-18k miles. They put the bolts in from the top down, then cut off the exposed threads, never bent over the cotter pin for the castle nut ( found that right after their install). I need to build...

For what, exactly?

The lower manifold has holes in it. On purpose. From the factory. Sealing a hole that was put there on purpose is kinda silly.

Re: My Disaster Van

Either the rear lines were leaking or the rear evaporator was leaking - no one chops the lines otherwise. I'd find a set of factory lines for the front that don't have provision for rear AC, or crimp and seal (MIG or TIG weld) the metal part of the rear lines so the front will work properly. I'm afr...
